Wedding suit is reminder of the fashion of the time

Working on the Education Pack for Heart of Conflict (our project on the centenary of World War One in the Camborne/Redruth area of Cornwall), it's interesting to have this glimpse of the clothes people wore at the time.
This wedding suit is in the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle and was worn by a local woman for her wartime marriage. It's elegant but quite sober and plain, with a brown velvet collar.
