News from Kuala Lumpur

A New Year's message from illustrator and artist Nilesh Mistry (an old friend of Bridging Arts).

Nilesh won our British Sari Story competition in 2007 with a stunning design for a Sari for Harrow - and has just started to develop an interest in tapestry. He has produced some stunning designs and we are starting to think about developing tapestry kits with Nilesh and working in residential homes from the elderly.

Nilesh was in Malaysia over Christmas and the New Year and managed to fit in a visit to the KL Textile museum, housed in the exotically striped building in the left of the photograph. It is apparently full of intricate batiks and embroideries. More about the museum and its collections here.
Here are a couple of samples of Nilesh's own vibrant designs.

Back to work and a meeting in Truro

Torrential rain in west Cornwall again - but great to get back to our World War One project Heart of Conflict and a meeting at the Royal Cornwall Museum yesterday with Jayne Wackett.
We're making plans for the exhibition at the Museum in autumn this year (September to December) which will focus on life at home in Cornwall during the War years.
